| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Gregory Wayne "Greg" Small Sr. of |
| 4 | | Springfield, who passed away on October 31, 2023; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Greg Small was born to Shaughneysy Small Jr. and |
| 6 | | Ruth (Penny) Small in Battle Creek, Michigan on September 20, |
| 7 | | 1957; he graduated from Springfield Southeast High School; he |
| 8 | | attended Springfield Junior College and earned a bachelor's |
| 9 | | degree and his Hazmat certification from the University of |
| 10 | | Illinois; he married Kenna René Small on January 30, 1988; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Greg Small worked as a long-distance Spanish |
| 12 | | bilingual operator with Illinois Bell Telephone, a station |
| 13 | | operator with Commonwealth Edison, an engineering assistant, a |
| 14 | | managing principal instructor, a control operator with |
| 15 | | Dominion Energy, Inc., and a control room operator with |
| 16 | | Dynegy, Inc.; he was the nuclear operations emergency response |
| 17 | | life safety and rescue principle licensed instructor for High |
| 18 | | Angle Rescue for Commonwealth Edison at the Kincaid Generation |
| 19 | | station in Chicago, where he handled 28 nuclear sources from |
| 20 | | 1980 to 1982; he was also a licensed EMT for 24 years from 1995 |
| 21 | | to 2019; he was a certified Nuclear Fire Brigade Task Force |
| 22 | | Team Member and received his OSHA certification and his High |
| 23 | | Angle Rescue certification;; and |
