2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Elaine "Blondie" Kirk, who passed away | ||||||
4 | on April 17, 2023 at the age of 97; and | ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Elaine Kirk was the youngest of seven children, | ||||||
6 | born in Princeton on October 1, 1925; and | ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Elaine Kirk was raised on a farm during The Great | ||||||
8 | Depression, attending Knox College in Galesburg; and | ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Elaine Kirk met her future husband, Harold Kirk, | ||||||
10 | on a blind date after graduating; and | ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Elaine Kirk and Harold moved from Princeton to | ||||||
12 | River Forest after marrying; and | ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Elaine Kirk served on the Women's Auxiliary of | ||||||
14 | West Suburban Hospital and with the Infant Welfare Society of | ||||||
15 | Oak Park-River Forest; and | ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Elaine Kirk was involved with the First | ||||||
17 | Presbyterian Church of River Forest as an elder; and | ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Elaine Kirk also served on the Planning and |

1 | Development Board of River Forest for many years; and | ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, In honor of her service to the community, the 600 | ||||||
3 | block of Keystone Avenue was dedicated to her as Elaine | ||||||
4 | "Blondie" Kirk Way; and | ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Elaine Kirk loved the outdoors and spent many | ||||||
6 | weeks during the year hunting in North Dakota and fishing in | ||||||
7 | Canada with her husband; and | ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Elaine Kirk was preceded in death by her husband, | ||||||
9 | Harold; and | ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Elaine is survived by her four children, Scott | ||||||
11 | (Jean), Todd (Jane), Kent (Denise), and Ann Williams (Doug), | ||||||
12 | and 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; therefore, be | ||||||
13 | it | ||||||
14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
16 | Elaine "Blondie" Kirk and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
17 | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
18 | further | ||||||
19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
20 | presented to the family of Elaine Kirk as an expression of our |
