2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Oscar M. Sandoval of Silvis, who |
4 | | passed away on November 12, 2023; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, Oscar Sandoval was born to Joseph and Carmen |
6 | | Morales Sandoval in East Moline on January 13, 1928; he served |
7 | | in the U.S. Navy during World War II; he married Celia "Sally" |
8 | | Quijas in Davenport, Iowa on February 20, 1954; and |
9 | | WHEREAS, Oscar Sandoval worked for the Rock Island |
10 | | Arsenal, traveling the world training people how to use the |
11 | | M198 Howitzer Canon; he retired after 30 years of service in |
12 | | 1988; and |
13 | | WHEREAS, Oscar Sandoval was a deacon at the House of the |
14 | | Lord Church and a member of Moline American Legion Post 246; he |
15 | | coached his sons' Little League and Babe Ruth baseball teams |
16 | | and his grandsons' baseball teams; in his younger years, he |
17 | | was a member of the Last Roundup softball team; and |
18 | | WHEREAS, Oscar Sandoval loved dancing with his wife; he |
19 | | enjoyed sports and was a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan; he |
20 | | cherished his family and his faith; and |

1 | | WHEREAS, Oscar Sandoval was preceded in death by his |
2 | | parents; his infant twin brothers, Peter Sandoval and John |
3 | | Sandoval; and his other siblings, Ruben (Ramona) Sandoval, |
4 | | William "Willie" Sandoval, Valencia Garcia, Alfonse Sandoval, |
5 | | Harry Sandoval, and Joseph "Moe" Sandoval; and |
6 | | WHEREAS, Oscar Sandoval is survived by his wife; his sons, |
7 | | Pastor William (Patti) Sandoval and Stephen Sandoval; his |
8 | | grandchildren, Jake, Alex, Kevin (Lauren), Jennifer, and John; |
9 | | his great-grandchildren, Will, Henry, Luke, Levi, Nova, Jace, |
10 | | and John Jr.; his siblings, Rufina Guerrero, Charlie (Ruby) |
11 | | Sandoval, Mary (Phillip) Garza, and Fred (Pauline) Sandoval; |
12 | | his sister-in-law, Rita Sandoval; and many nieces, nephews, |
13 | | great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, be it |
14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |
15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
16 | | Oscar M. Sandoval and extend our sincere condolences to his |
17 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
18 | | further |
19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to the family of Oscar Sandoval as an expression of |
21 | | our deepest sympathy. |
