SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Linka M. Jones of Park Ridge, who passed away on July 26, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Linka Jones was a devoted member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Park Ridge, where she sat on the board for many years and was a dedicated volunteer with Monday Meals, providing food to members of her community and services to those experiencing homelessness; and

WHEREAS, Linka Jones was an ardent reader, a donor of books, and a long-serving volunteer at the Park Ridge Public Library; for many years, she shared her knowledge with those across the community; she further contributed her free time to the local Boy Scout troops as well as provided guidance and support to various children and organizations in the region; and

WHEREAS, Linka Jones was the wife of Roger A. Jones for 55 years; the mother of Kimberly Jones, Mark Jones, and Mary Jo (Jones) Marchetta; the grandmother of Christina Jones, Daniel Jones, Jonathan Jones, and Michaelene Marchetta; the sister of the late Paul Kirst; and the aunt, cousin, and friend to many; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Linka M. Jones and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Linka Jones as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
