SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 
3congratulate the Camp Point Central High School football team, 
4the Panthers, on winning the 2023 Illinois High School 
5Association Class 1A State Championship; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Panthers defeated Lena-Winslow High School 14 
7to 0 on November 24, 2023 at Hancock Stadium on the campus of 
8Illinois State University in Bloomington; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The Panthers and Lena-Winslow High School both 
10compiled undefeated seasons on their path to the championship 
11game; and
 
12    WHEREAS, The Panthers achieved their fifth defensive 
13shutout of the season and dethroned a Lena-Winslow team 
14seeking its fourth straight state title; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Achieving a second place finish in 2018 and 2022, 
16this is the Panthers first state title; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the 
19Camp Point Central High School football team, the Panthers, on 
20winning the 2023 Illinois High School Association Class 1A

1State Championship, and we wish them many more successful 
2seasons; and be it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
4presented to the Panthers as a symbol of our respect and 
5esteem.
