SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of MaryAnn Wojtowicz Whitney of Joliet, who passed away on December 1, 2023; and

WHEREAS, MaryAnn Wojtowicz Whitney was born to Margaret (Loncka) Lievens and William Lievens in Lockport on August 3, 1943; she married George Wojtowicz shortly after graduating high school; and

WHEREAS, MaryAnn Wojtowicz Whitney loved life and loved people; she was a member of the Red Hat Society and the American Legion Post #1080 Ladies Auxiliary; and

WHEREAS, MaryAnn Wojtowicz Whitney was an optimist with a boundless positive energy; she loved traveling, especially cruises, and was exceptionally enthusiastic about anything Elvis Presley related, a passion which was only outmatched by the love she held for her family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Mary Wojtowicz Whitney was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 48 years, George Wojtowicz; and her siblings, George (Dorothy "Pudge") Lievens and Daniel Lievens; and

WHEREAS, Mary Wojtowicz Whitney is survived by her husband, Terrance "Terry" Whitney; her children, Kenneth (Diane) Wojtowicz and Karen (David) Schavey; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her sisters, Peggy (Frank) Thomas and Therese (Richard) Rayburn; her sisters-in-law, Sharon Lievens and Barb (the late Robert) Jadron; and several nieces, nephews, and other members of her family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of MaryAnn Wojtowicz Whitney and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary Wojtowicz Whitney as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
