| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Henry Bernard Geise of Quincy, |
| 4 | | formerly of Estero, Florida, who passed away on December 1, |
| 5 | | 2023; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Henry Geise was born to Bernard Henry and Violet |
| 7 | | Marie (Wabel) Geise in Quincy on April 3, 1936; he attended St. |
| 8 | | Boniface Grade School and graduated from Christian Brothers |
| 9 | | High School in 1954; he graduated with a degree in accounting |
| 10 | | from Quincy College in 1959 and with a Juris Doctor from the |
| 11 | | University of Illinois in 1963; he served in the U.S. Army |
| 12 | | Reserves; he married Jill (Groves) at Quincy College Chapel on |
| 13 | | August 6, 1960; and |
| 14 | | WHEREAS, After his college graduation, Henry Geise worked |
| 15 | | for Lybrand, Ross Brothers, and Montgomery; after graduating |
| 16 | | from Law school, he moved back to Quincy and joined his |
| 17 | | father-in-law's law practice, retiring from private practice |
| 18 | | after nearly 60 years; he also taught business law classes in |
| 19 | | the evenings at Quincy College in his earlier years; in |
| 20 | | addition, he was the owner and president of the Maid Rite |
| 21 | | Sandwich Shop and the former Maid Rite East Sandwich Shop; and |
| 22 | | WHEREAS, Henry Geise was appointed as the Quincy City |

| 1 | | Attorney, a position he held for many years; he also acted as |
| 2 | | the emcee at the Beaux Arts Ball; and |
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Henry Geise attended Our Lady of Light Catholic |
| 4 | | Church in Fort Myers, Florida and the Church of St. Peter in |
| 5 | | Quincy; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Henry Geise had a calm demeanor and a wonderful |
| 7 | | sense of humor; he loved the outdoors, spending countless |
| 8 | | hours working on projects and fishing at his cabin, golfing, |
| 9 | | and playing cards; his family was everything to him, and he |
| 10 | | spent much treasured time with them, especially during family |
| 11 | | trips to Florida, Colorado, and the Lake of the Ozarks; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Henry Geise was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 13 | | his brothers-in-law, Rich Hilgenbrink and Don Talken; and his |
| 14 | | nephew, Mark Talken; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Henry Geise is survived by his wife; his |
| 16 | | children, Michael Geise and Lisa (Brian) Knuffman; his |
| 17 | | grandchildren, Taylor (fiance, Payton Welch) Knuffman and |
| 18 | | Caiden (significant other, Payten Rice) Geise; his bonus |
| 19 | | granddaughter, Destiny Aden; his sisters, Judy Talken, Linda |
| 20 | | Hilgenbrink, and Debbie (Robert) Steeples; and his several |
| 21 | | nieces and nephews along with their spouses and children; |
| 22 | | therefore, be it |

| 1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |
| 2 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 3 | | Henry Bernard Geise and extend our sincere condolences to his |
| 4 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
| 5 | | further |
| 6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 7 | | presented to the family of Henry Geise as an expression of our |
| 8 | | deepest sympathy. |
