| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Henry E. "Woody" Kramer, who passed |
| 4 | | away on December 12, 2023; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Woody Kramer was born to Mary Rosetta (Roedl) and |
| 6 | | Henry A. Kramer in Altamont on May 19, 1941; he graduated from |
| 7 | | Villa Grove High School in 1959; he attended Springfield |
| 8 | | Junior College for two years before transferring to the |
| 9 | | University of Illinois, earning a degree in English and |
| 10 | | History in 1962; he married Mary Alice Strassburger on January |
| 11 | | 25, 1964; he graduated from the University of Illinois College |
| 12 | | of Law in 1965; and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Woody Kramer became a partner at the law firm of |
| 14 | | Brainard, Bower & Kramer law in Charleston, where he practiced |
| 15 | | law for nearly 50 years; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Woody Kramer was an active member of the St. |
| 17 | | Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Charleston; he belonged to |
| 18 | | several organizations, including as a 4th Degree Knight of the |
| 19 | | Knights of Columbus, a founding member of the Charleston Area |
| 20 | | Charitable Foundation, and a member of the Charleston Area |
| 21 | | Economic Development Board, the Coles Together Board, the |
| 22 | | Coles County 708 Board, and the Charleston Parks and |

| 1 | | Recreation Board; and |
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Woody Kramer adored his wife, children, and |
| 3 | | grandchildren; he loved mushroom hunting, following the St. |
| 4 | | Louis Cardinals and University of Illinois sports, telling |
| 5 | | stories about a pair of make-believe deer named Deenie & |
| 6 | | Donnie, golfing, gardening, storm chasing, and watching |
| 7 | | sunsets; and |
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Woody Kramer was known, loved, and respected by |
| 9 | | many; he never knew a stranger and made friends wherever he |
| 10 | | went; he will be remembered for his loving kindness, his |
| 11 | | generosity, and for always having time for everyone he met; |
| 12 | | and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Woody Kramer was preceded in death by his parents |
| 14 | | and his siblings, Bernie Kramer, Peggy Blanchard, Anita |
| 15 | | Brazzell, and Denise Hassan; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Woody Kramer is survived by his wife of 59 years, |
| 17 | | Mary Alice Kramer; his children, Liane Foerder, Alice (Mike) |
| 18 | | Dutler, Kevin Kramer, Letha (Lisa Watkins) Kramer, Ellen |
| 19 | | (Bryan) Ericson, and Lauren (Ryan Anderson) Kramer; his |
| 20 | | grandchildren, Stephanie (Dustin) Gay, Becca Foerder, Lexi |
| 21 | | Foerder, Christian Dutler, Matthew Dutler, Abby Dutler, Livia |
| 22 | | Kramer, Henry Kramer, Griffin Kramer, Hannah Ericson, Owen |

| 7 | | Henry E. "Woody" Kramer and extend our sincere condolences to |
| 8 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |

| 10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 11 | | presented to the family of Woody Kramer as an expression of our |
| 12 | | deepest sympathy. |
