SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Michael M. "Mike" Lesser of Des Plaines, who passed away on December 31, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Mike Lesser was born to Loretta and Matthew Lesser in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on February 20, 1930; and

WHEREAS, Mike Lesser lived in 39 homes and worked over 100 jobs over the course of his lifetime; his longest careers were as a display designer for Kinney Shoes for 30 years, the owner of Brumlik Shoes for five years, and a deliverer of payroll checks for ADP for 19 years; he also enjoyed being a realtor on the side; and

WHEREAS, After he retired, Mike Lesser settled down and bought a condo in 2005; and

WHEREAS, Almost every weekday, Mike Lesser drove to Schaumburg to buy lunch or dinner for his sons and his friends, mostly anyone who would listen to his stories; and

WHEREAS, On the weekends, Mike Lesser enjoyed boat fishing or sitting on the sidelines of his great-grandchildren's games with a large coffee and a blanket, cheering them on; and

WHEREAS, Mike Lesser was a fan of actor John Wayne and his films; and

WHEREAS, Mike Lesser was the husband of the late Rosemary (Mason) Lesser for 51 years; the father to the late Michael (Judy), Terry (Trish), Richard (Mary), and Tom (Maria); the grandfather of Brian, Matt, Julie, Ricky, Jeanette, and Danny; the great-grandfather of Michael, Derrick, Antonio, Breana, Alyssa, Danny, Shawn, Gavin, Easton, Cade, Brendan, Audrey, Nico, and Eduardo; the great-great-grandfather of Tyson, Garrett, and Paxton; the brother of the late Frank Lesser, Bob Coulam, the late Carol Coulam, and the late Diane Coulam; the brother-in-law of Margaret Tobin and Kathy Munoz; and the uncle of many; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Michael M. "Mike" Lesser and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mike Lesser as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
