| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Lisle Eugene Hubbard of Rock Island, |
| 4 | | who passed away on January 6, 2024; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Lisle Hubbard was born to Mary and Arthur Hubbard |
| 6 | | in Sherrard on June 30, 1927; he served in the U.S. Navy during |
| 7 | | World War II, serving two years on a ship in the Pacific; he |
| 8 | | married Carol Jean Bowman on October 22, 1949; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Lisle Hubbard was a self-taught engineer capable |
| 10 | | of building or repairing almost anything; he began working in |
| 11 | | the pattern shop of John Deere Harvester Works (John Deere) in |
| 12 | | East Moline in 1950; he accepted a similar job in Los Alamos, |
| 13 | | New Mexico in 1957 before returning to John Deere in the Quad |
| 14 | | Cities in 1959, where he worked as a supervisor in the pattern |
| 15 | | shop, retiring in 1980; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Lisle Hubbard served on the church council at St. |
| 17 | | Paul Lutheran Church; he also served as an assistant |
| 18 | | scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 123; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Lisle Hubbard was always working on a project, |
| 20 | | including building a 34-foot wooden boat, which he sailed down |
| 21 | | the Mississippi River to Florida, constructing a vacation |
