SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ward T. Roberson of Rock Island, who passed away on January 28, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Ward Roberson was born to Paul and Florence "Flo" Sallows Roberson in Moline on November 29, 1945; he married Sherry J. Nelson at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Island in 1967; he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; and

WHEREAS, Ward Roberson worked for John Deere Harvester in East Moline for 32 years, retiring in the late 1990s; and

WHEREAS, Ward Roberson was a member of the Izaak Walton League of America, Davenport Chapter and the QC Parrot Heads; he bowled in the John Deere Bowling League for many years; and

WHEREAS, Ward Roberson enjoyed working on cars, watching the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears, collecting coins, and fishing; he had an ear for music and enjoyed organizing all of his albums and songs by the generations in which they were released; he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Ward Roberson was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Elianna; and his twin brother, Wade Roberson Sr.; and

WHEREAS, Ward Roberson is survived by his wife; his children, Wendy (Jim) Carlson and Tim (Mary Lou) Roberson; his grandchildren, Kyle Carlson, Kasey Carlson, Kelsey Carlson, and Matthew Roberson; and his siblings, Diane (Larry) Smith, Paulette (Shawn) Moreno, and Amy Kresse; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ward T. Roberson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ward Roberson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
