SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Russell R. "Russ" Kinzinger of Hanna 
4City, who passed away on January 30, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Russ Kinzinger was born in Washington, Illinois 
6to Roy and Barbara (May) Kinzinger on November 3, 1928; he 
7served in the United States Navy during World War II; he was 
8married to Barbara Linn from 1954 to 1956, Joyce Lamb from 1962 
9to 1980, and Karan DeKraker from 2002 to 2009; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Russ Kinzinger retired in 1981 from Hiram Walker 
11and Sons Distillery after 30 years; he owned and operated the 
12Owl's Nest Tavern in West Peoria from 1980 to 1996; he 
13established three other businesses in Peoria, KAT Amusements, 
14Owl Darts, and several Darts 'N Pool retail outlets throughout 
15the Midwest; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Russ Kinzinger was a member of Elks Lodge #20 in 
17Peoria, the Izaak Walton League of America, and the Illinois 
18Liquor Association for many years; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Russ Kinzinger was preceded in death by his first 
20wife, Barbara; his second wife, Joyce; his third wife, Karan; 
21his brother, Robert Kinzinger; and his sister, Frances Volk;

2    WHEREAS, Russ Kinzinger is survived by his children, David 
3(Jackie) Kinzinger, Lisa (Randy) Massey, and Bryan Kinzinger; 
4his stepdaughters, Cindy (Jim) Green and Cheryl (Brad) Bjerke; 
5his grandchildren, Adam (Alex) Kinzinger, Alexandrea (Jake) 
6Todino, Jennifer (Brad) Henz, Samantha Massey, Jessica (Paul) 
7Karstensen, Olivia Massey, Myranda Massey, Addison Massey, 
8Skylar Kinzinger, Slayde Kinzinger, Kurt Green, Jake Green, 
9Alex Bjerke, and Lauren Bjerke; and his great-grandchildren, 
10Emma, Carter, Henry, and Hazely; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
13Russell R. "Russ" Kinzinger and extend our sincere condolences 
14to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be 
15it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
17presented to the family of Russ Kinzinger as an expression of 
18our deepest sympathy.
