SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Drexel R. Franks of Rock Island, who 
4passed away on February 17, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Drexel Franks was born in Rock Island on 
6September 29, 1953; he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS 
7Kitty Hawk; he married MaryEllen Franks in Rock Island on 
8November 2, 1973; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Drexel Franks worked for Montgomery Escalator, 
10currently Kone, in Moline for 27 years; he retired from Marco 
11in Davenport, Iowa; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Drexel Franks was an avid fan of westerns and 
13country music; he enjoyed going to the Active Day Senior 
14Center in Moline; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Drexel Franks was preceded in death by his wife, 
16MaryEllen, and his son-in-law, Richard Whitcomb; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Drexel Franks is survived by his children, Amy 
18Whitcomb, Sarah (Steve) Rockwell, and Matthew (Jacqueline) 
19Franks; his grandchildren, Kyler (Hanna), Abbi (Adam), Rachel, 
20Kaitlyn, Maddie, Jackson, and Ben; his siblings, Andrea (Tom)

1Johnson, Stan (Deanna) Franks, and Cheryl (David) Hardy; his 
2life-long friend, Dean (Deanna) Snow; and his four-legged 
3companion, his dog, Duke; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
6Drexel R. Franks and extend our sincere condolences to his 
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to the family of Drexel Franks as an expression of 
11our deepest sympathy.
