SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Raymond "Pete" Fontenoy of East Moline, who passed away on February 16, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Pete Fontenoy was born to Raymond and Alice (Langston) Fontenoy in Rock Island on June 18, 1943; he served in the U.S. Army; he married Bonnie (Greer) Thomas in Moline on August 14, 1999; and

WHEREAS, Pete Fontenoy worked at International Harvester for 32 years, retiring in 1998; and

WHEREAS, Pete Fontenoy was a member of Abiding Hope Lutheran Church in Ocala, Florida; and

WHEREAS, Pete Fontenoy enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and, in his earlier years, competitive archery, coming in second place at the PAA National Archery Tournament in 1982; he and his wife, Bonnie, enjoyed wintering in Florida, where they made many friends and were involved in several activities, especially golfing; and

WHEREAS, Pete Fontenoy was known as "Mr. Pete" by all the neighborhood children for always being willing to fix anything for them and teach them about nature; he will be remembered as an amazing, kind, warm, and generous man; and

WHEREAS, Pete Fontenoy was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Pete Fontenoy is survived by his wife; his stepsons, Steve (Pam) Thomas and Tim Thomas; his step-grandchildren, Robbie, Janna, and Lance; five great-grandchildren; his sister, Mary Lyn (John) Minder; his brother, Tom Fontenoy; several nieces; and his cat, Izzy; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Raymond "Pete" Fontenoy and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Pete Fontenoy as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
