| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Robert Joseph "Bob" Hogan, who passed |
| 4 | | away on February 12, 2024; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bob Hogan was born to Joseph and Eloise Hill |
| 6 | | Hogan on January 30, 1934; he attended St. Agnes Elementary |
| 7 | | School and graduated from Cathedral Boys High School; he |
| 8 | | served in the U.S. Army for two years and then graduated from |
| 9 | | the University of Illinois Police Training Institute; he |
| 10 | | married Carol Lee Spears in Alton on August 27, 1960; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Bob Hogan served the City of Springfield for 31 |
| 12 | | years as a police officer and retired in 1993 as a detective |
| 13 | | sergeant; he worked security at the Illinois State Fair for 33 |
| 14 | | years; he was the state treasurer for the Police Benevolent |
| 15 | | and Protection Association of Illinois and was also president |
| 16 | | of the Springfield unit; he was appointed to the Illinois Law |
| 17 | | Enforcement Training and Standards Board, which oversees the |
| 18 | | training of all police officers in the State; after retiring |
| 19 | | from the Springfield Police Department, he worked security in |
| 20 | | the Illinois Senate, where he met former State Senator and |
| 21 | | U.S. President Barack Obama; and |
| 22 | | WHEREAS, Bob Hogan received the William Herndon Award in |
