SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Marcia Lynn Morrison of Springfield, 
4who passed away on February 29, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marcia Morrison was born to Earnest and Ursula 
6Morrison on April 28, 1965; she graduated from Riverton High 
7School; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Marcia Morrison worked for Riverton Community 
9School District #14 and First Student, Inc. as a bus driver; 
10her career included shuttling visitors and athletes to and 
11from various venues during the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, 
12Georgia; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Marcia Morrison volunteered for various 
14organizations, including the Special Olympics, United Cerebral 
15Palsy (UCP), and the Illinois State Fair Parade; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Marcia Morrison enjoyed playing softball and 
17later served as an umpire; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Marcia Morrison will be remembered for always 
19helping others in any way possible; and

1    WHEREAS, Marcia Morrison was preceded in death by her 
2parents; her brother-in-law, Chris Godefroid; and several 
3aunts, uncles, and cousins; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Marcia Morrison is survived by her son, Britten; 
5her friend, Tristan; her siblings, Terry (Peggy), Jerry (Rod 
6Nash), Denny (Gina), Kenny (Kristy), and Kathy (Chris) 
7Godefroid; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, 
8great-nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
11Marcia Lynn Morrison and extend our sincere condolences to her 
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it 
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to the family of Marcia Morrison as an expression of 
16our deepest sympathy.
