| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Edmond C. Goethals of East Moline, who |
| 4 | | passed away on April 1, 2024; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Edmond Goethals was born in Moline to George and |
| 6 | | Julia Verbeke Goethals on October 4, 1940; he served in the |
| 7 | | U.S. Air Force as a firefighter on an airbase in France; he |
| 8 | | married Linda Lamb in East Moline on July 10, 1965; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Edmond Goethals worked for John Deere Harvester |
| 10 | | for 40 years; he also maintained his barber license and |
| 11 | | enjoyed cutting hair for family; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Edmond Goethals was a member of United Auto |
| 13 | | Workers Local 865; he was an avid gardener, and his interests |
| 14 | | included Native American culture; he was proud of his custom |
| 15 | | designed teepee, with eagles representing his close family; he |
| 16 | | was a great provider for his family and a hard worker; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Edmond Goethals was preceded in death by his |
| 18 | | wife, Linda; his parents; and his son, Brian Goethals; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Edmond Goethals is survived by his daughter, Lisa |
| 20 | | Blair; his grandson, Jacob Blair; and his sisters, Dolores |
