| 2 | | WHEREAS, In times of intense personal crisis and |
| 3 | | community-wide disasters, the first access point for those |
| 4 | | seeking emergency services is to contact 9-1-1, and the local |
| 5 | | and county emergency communications centers that receive these |
| 6 | | calls are often the first point of contact for persons seeking |
| 7 | | immediate relief during an emergency; and |
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Emergencies often require police, fire, or |
| 9 | | emergency medical services, and the prompt response of police |
| 10 | | officers, firefighters, and paramedics is dependent upon the |
| 11 | | quality and accuracy of information obtained from citizens who |
| 12 | | telephone 911 emergency communications centers and the |
| 13 | | subsequent dissemination of that information by dedicated |
| 14 | | public safety telecommunicators; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Public safety telecommunicators serve as a vital |
| 16 | | link for our police officers and firefighters by monitoring |
| 17 | | their activities by radio and providing them with essential |
| 18 | | information to ensure both their safety and the safety of |
| 19 | | those who require emergency assistance; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Public safety telecommunicators demonstrate great |
| 21 | | care and professionalism in the execution of their various |
| 22 | | duties while contributing substantially to the treatment of |
