SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Ethan Harold Mahoney of rural 
4Alexander, who passed away on April 15, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ethan Mahoney was born in Springfield to Michael 
6A. and Becky (Leach) Mahoney on July 7, 2005; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Ethan Mahoney was a senior at A-C Central High 
8School in Ashland; he was a member of the basketball team, the 
9bass fishing team, and the Future Farmers of America; he was 
10also a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ashland; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ethan Mahoney loved listening to country music in 
12his truck and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and 
13University of Illinois basketball; he loved helping on the 
14family farm and being around the animals; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Ethan Mahoney always had a smile on his face, 
16never met a stranger, and had a knack for making everyone 
17laugh; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Ethan Mahoney is survived by his parents; his 
19siblings, Quinlan, Wyatt, and Ainsley Mahoney; his 
20grandparents, Donald and Linda Mahoney, Lyn and Roger Dietz,

1and Ed and Dianne Leach; his great-grandfather, Gordon 
2Smedley; his uncles and aunts, Mark (Grainne) Mahoney, Chad 
3(Jenny) Mahoney, Beth (Jeff) Hopkins, Brett (Kerry) Leach, and 
4Sara (David) Thomas; and numerous cousins; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
7Ethan Harold Mahoney and extend our sincere condolences to his 
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to the family of Ethan Mahoney as an expression of 
12our deepest sympathy.
