SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dennis M. Laird of Moline, who passed away on April 16, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Laird was born to Dale C. Laird Jr. and Arietta A. (Holmes) Laird in Rock Island on August 17, 1949; he served in the U.S. Army with the 23 Infantry Division in Vietnam; he married Jeanette York in Rock Island on April 29, 1972; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Laird worked at International Harvester Farmall Works in Rock Island for several years; he later worked for Wilson's Moving Company in Davenport, Iowa; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Laird was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Quad Cities Chapter No. 669, Milan American Legion Post No. 569, MAVA, and the Americal Division Veterans Association; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Laird loved dirt car racing, drag racing, and visiting with his friends and family; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Laird was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Crystal Seabolt; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Laird is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jeannette; his children, Tabitha Laird and Dennis M. (Stacey) Laird II; his grandchildren, Carly Ater-Laird, Devin Laird, Kaitlin Warner, and Chase Laird; his great-grandchildren, Bryant and Kyler; and his brothers, Kirk Laird and David (Eileen) Laird; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dennis M. Laird and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dennis Laird as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
