SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 
3recognize Working Bikes on 25 years of community service in 
4and around Chicago's Little Village since its inception in 
51999; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Working Bikes gives donated bicycles new life by 
7redistributing them as tools of empowerment in local and 
8global communities, including Africa, Latin America, and 
9Chicago, where bicycles are the most reliable, sustainable, 
10and environmentally friendly transportation available; and
 
11    WHEREAS, The amazing commitment of the volunteers, staff, 
12partners, and supporters of Working Bikes has enabled new life 
13for 100,000 bicycles across the globe and tens of thousands in 
14Chicago; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Working Bikes has empowered people to utilize and 
16access resources and opportunities that otherwise could have 
17been out of reach, reducing waste, lessening pollution, and 
18improving health in the process; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Working 
21Bikes on 25 years of working to strengthen local and global

1communities by giving donated bicycles new life and 
2redistributing them as tools for self-determination; and be it 
3further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
5presented to Working Bikes as a symbol of our esteem and 
6respect.
