| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of MoDena "Mo" Stinnette, PhD., who |
| 4 | | passed away on April 26, 2024; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette was born on October 9, 1969; she |
| 6 | | was an author, mother, daughter, sister, counselor, certified |
| 7 | | peer recovery support specialist, professor, community |
| 8 | | psychologist, and personal hero to many; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette spent many years of her life |
| 10 | | battling substance use disorder and was extremely proud of her |
| 11 | | recovery; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette received a BA in 2007, an MBA in |
| 13 | | 2009, and a PhD. in community psychology in 2022, all from |
| 14 | | National Louis University, where she was an active member of |
| 15 | | the community, serving as president of the Student Assembly |
| 16 | | and participating in the Black Student Union; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette published the book Inside Out in |
| 18 | | 2010; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette was an avid fan of the character |
| 20 | | Batman; and |
