SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Robert Lee Beck of Rock Island, who 
4passed away on May 4, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Beck, the son of John and Dovie Beck, was 
6born in Mounds on October 8, 1943; he graduated from Cairo High 
7School, where he excelled at several sports; he later earned 
8an associate's degree before serving in the U.S. Army during 
9the Vietnam War; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Robert Beck worked as a quality control 
11coordinator at Caterpillar until retirement; he then worked 
12for Rock Island High School and also managed the Rock Island 
13Elks Club; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Robert Beck enjoyed spending time with his 
15children, grandchildren, and friends; he was passionate about 
16fishing, golfing, and his bowling leagues; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Robert Beck was preceded in death by his parents 
18and his sister, Velma Lewis; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Robert Beck is survived by his children, Lisa 
20Beck and Maurice Beck, and his grandchildren, Evelyn McCain

1and Maurlyse Shropshire; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
4Robert Lee Beck and extend our sincere condolences to his 
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to the family of Robert Beck as an expression of our 
9deepest sympathy.
