| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Jack L. Sawyer of Mapleton, who passed |
| 4 | | away on May 9, 2024; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jack Sawyer was born to George and Linda |
| 6 | | (Herrmann) Sawyer in Baxter Springs, Kansas on November 1, |
| 7 | | 1937; he served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War; |
| 8 | | he married Judy Herring in Eureka on February 26, 1976; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Jack Sawyer was the owner of Contractors Carpet |
| 10 | | Services for over 50 years before retiring; he also owned |
| 11 | | Smith & Company Carpet Supplies; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Jack Sawyer was a member of Eastside Bible Church |
| 13 | | in Morton and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation; and |
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Jack Sawyer enjoyed elk hunting, fishing, and |
| 15 | | spending time with his family and friends; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Jack Sawyer was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 17 | | his stepson, Cliff Herring; and his brother, Jerry Sawyer; and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Jack Sawyer is survived by his wife of 48 years, |
| 19 | | Judy; his son, Judd Sawyer; his stepdaughter, Theresa (Brad) |
