SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of James Henry "Jim" Reibel of Joliet,
4who passed away on April 21, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim Reibel was born to John and Helah Reibel in
6Detroit, Michigan on November 9, 1929; he earned a bachelor's
7degree in accounting from Wayne State University in 1954;
8after college, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he
9played clarinet in the regimental band before being discharged
10from active duty in July 1956; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Shortly after completing his military service,
12Jim Reibel and his wife, Mary Jane, moved to Kalamazoo,
13Michigan; while there, he worked as an accountant and later as
14a realtor; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Jim Reibel loved classical music and played
16bassoon in the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra; he was also a
17lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jim Reibel was known for his good nature, his
19quick wit, and his willingness to serve others; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Jim Reibel was preceded in death by his parents;

1his wife of 67 years, Mary Jane; his brother, Robert; and his
2half siblings, John, Kenneth, Todd, Dorothy, and Mary Jane;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, Jim Reibel is survived by his children, Kenneth,
5Denise, and John; six grandchildren; and two
6great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9James Henry "Jim" Reibel and extend our sincere condolences to
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Jim Reibel as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
