SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Daniel Leroy "Dan" Thorpe of Rock
4Island, who passed away on June 13, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dan Thorpe was born to Charles F. and Margaret
6Sheil Thorpe in Moline on April 10, 1942; he married Shirley
7Ann Sheppard in Rock Island on June 19, 1965; he served in the
8U.S. Army; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dan Thorpe worked for Tank Automotive Command
10(TACOM) at the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1997; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dan Thorpe enjoyed visiting with people over a
12meal, meeting his brothers for breakfast at Rainy Dayz in
13Milan every Saturday; he also enjoyed going to the Star
14Sandwich Shop for lunch; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Dan Thorpe was always proud and willing to help
16others whenever he could, such as driving veterans to and from
17the VA Hospital in Iowa City for five years; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dan Thorpe was preceded in death by his parents;
19his sons, Shawn and Darrell Thorpe; his daughter-in-law,
20Suzanne Thorpe; and his siblings, Wally Thorpe, Kathy

1Fourdyce, and James Thorpe; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Dan Thorpe is survived by his wife, Shirley
3Thorpe; his son, Patrick Thorpe; his grandchildren, Eliseo
4Noriega, Shawn Thorpe, and Skylar Thorpe; his siblings, Tony
5(Mary) Thorpe, Chuck (Linda) Thorpe, Bill (Virginia) Thorpe,
6Margaret (Bob) Harmon, Fran Krahl, Tim (Pam) Thorpe, and Dick
7(Denise) Thorpe; his sister-in-law, Janice Thorpe; and his
8brother-in-law, John Fourdyce; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Daniel Leroy "Dan" Thorpe and extend our sincere condolences
12to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
13it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Dan Thorpe as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
