SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Larry Eugene Jones Sr. of Havana, who
4passed away on June 12, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Larry Jones was born to Herman and Mildred
6(Gibson) Jones in Canton on May 22, 1940; he served in the U.S.
7Army in Korea from 1959 to 1962; he married Elsie Grace Hughes
8in Canton on September 23, 1967; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Larry Jones worked in construction; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Larry Jones attended Havana Nazarene Church; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Larry Jones was an excellent mechanic who
12maintained his own cars; he enjoyed tinkering with vehicles,
13fishing, and hunting; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Larry Jones was a man of strong faith who was
15affectionately known as "Pop Pop" to his grandchildren and
16great-grandchildren; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Larry Jones was preceded in death by his parents
18and his siblings, Alice Wilson, Herman Jones Jr., Leroy Jones,
19Arlene Stuckey, Carolyn Stuckey, and Susan Smith; and

1    WHEREAS, Larry Jones is survived by his wife; his
2children, Larry E. Jones Jr., Jonathan Jones, Troy Jones, and
3Lucinda K. (Dana) Lynn; his granddaughters, Katlyn (Chris)
4Holt and Casey (fiance, Monty Walker) Mann; his
5great-grandsons, Atreus Walker and Maxwell Holt; and his
6siblings, Rosie (Bill) Landis and Ricky (Kathy) Wilson;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Larry Eugene Jones Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Larry Jones as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
