SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Dean Marvin Green of New Windsor, who
4passed away on June 17, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dean Green, the son of Marvin James Green and
6Ethel Sackfield Green, was born in Aledo on August 20, 1942; he
7attended Winola High School in Viola; he enlisted in the U.S.
8Navy in August 1959, where he served on the USS Frontier at
9Naval Station Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii, and he was
10honorably discharged in August 1963; he married Joyce Garrett
11at the Calvary Lutheran Church in New Windsor on November 16,
121973; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dean Green worked as a truck driver for many
14years, driving an 18-wheeler cross country and back; he also
15helped farmers during harvest time; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Dean Green was a member of Mercer County VFW Post
171571 in Aledo; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dean Green loved attending family gatherings,
19where he played many card games with cousins, aunts, and
20uncles, and spending time with his family and friends at the
21river in New Boston; and

1    WHEREAS, Dean Green was preceded in death by his parents;
2his wife; and his stepdaughter, Deana Greer; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Dean Green is survived by his daughter, Sherri
4(Greg); his stepdaughter, Elaine (Kyle); stepson, Eric
5(Melissa); his grandchildren, Daniel (Lindsey) Berg, Jeffrey
6Berg, Gregory (Zoe) Berg, Jared Greer, Ashley (Doug) Hall,
7Kristin Helg, Allison Young, and Jacob Young; his
8great-grandchildren, Jae Berg and Josie Berg; his aunt,
9Seville Bivens; his sister, Vicki Thorp; a niece and a nephew;
10and his cousins; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Dean Marvin Green and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Dean Green as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
