SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Robert S. Griffin Sr. of Moline, who
4passed away on June 23, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Griffin was born in Rock Island to William
6and Elizabeth (Horton) Griffin on January 30, 1932; he served
7in the U.S. Army; he married Patricia Miller in March of 1960;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Robert Griffin retired from the former Eagle's
10warehouse in Milan; he also assisted the Rock Island Police
11Department for 20 years with the senior patrol program and
12later as a chaplain; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Robert Griffin loved spending time with his
14family, especially his grandchildren, shooting, and traveling;
15he had an extensive collection of beer cans; he was a member of
16Destiny Baptist Church of Christ; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Robert Griffin was preceded in death by his wife
18of 58 years, Patricia; his parents; his son-in-law, David; and
19two grandchildren; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Robert Griffin is survived by his daughters,

1Vickie J. Glasgow and Cheryl Minear; his sons, Robert S.
2Griffin II and Matthew (Christina) Griffin; his grandchildren,
3Dawn, Royal, Missy, Sis, Brandy, David, Brandy, Randy, Morgan,
4Nicholas, Alexis, Sara, Robert III, Chelsea, Tyler, Jayme,
5Joel, and Adara; his great-grandchildren, Kellsie, Keenan,
6Kayle, Ashlee, Lewis, Quinten, Noah, Marissa, Aleigha, Charly,
7Wyatt, Zoey, Zhane, Robert IV, Xander, Brody, Willow, Brayton,
8Atalissa, Rayna, Elliott, Riley, Drake, Braxton, Isabelle, and
9Lyla; his great-great-grandchildren, Damauri, Kingston, KJ,
10Kennedy, Lucille, Payton, Krew, and Kallen, who will be born
11this year; his sisters, Helen Gibbs and Louis Speaker; and
12numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Robert S. Griffin Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to
16his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Robert Griffin as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
