SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Harriet Grace Higgs, who passed away
4on June 9, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Harriet Higgs was born to Oscar J. and Hattie
6Marie (Evans) Macklin on October 21, 1933; she married George
7W. Higgs in Mason on March 16, 1952; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Harriet Higgs was a homemaker who served as a
9Sunday school teacher at Salisbury Christian Church; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Harriet Higgs loved gardening, crocheting, and
11needlepointing; she was also an accomplished seamstress; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Harriet Higgs will be remembered as an artistic
13person who served as an inspiration to many; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Harriet Higgs was preceded in death by her
15parents; her husband; her son, Phillip David Higgs; her
16grandson, Mitchell W. Nein; her great-grandchildren, Trevor
17Michael Hayden and Ocean Savannah Siegrist; and her siblings,
18Helen Macklin and Bill Macklin; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Harriet Higgs is survived by her children, Mary

1(Joe) James, Gene Higgs, Pam (Mike) Krueger, Brenda (Doug)
2Nickelson, and Kathy (Mitch) Nein; 14 grandchildren; 13
3great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her
4brother, Robert (Beverly) Macklin; and several nieces and
5nephews; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Harriet Grace Higgs and extend our sincere condolences to her
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Harriet Higgs as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
