SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Michael John "Mike" Kaczmarz of
4Springfield, who passed away on June 27, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mike Kaczmarz was born in Chicago to Walter and
6Alice (Pekofske) Kaczmarz on August 26, 1950; he graduated
7from Quigley South High School in Chicago and earned his
8bachelor's degree from Blackburn College; he married Patricia
9Quinlan Schuh in Tinley Park on September 7, 2003; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Mike Kaczmarz was an English teacher and
11basketball coach at St. Rita of Cascia High School and St.
12Francis de Sales High School in Chicago; he also worked at
13Virden, Sacred Heart-Griffin, and Buffalo Tri-City high
14schools; in addition to basketball, he coached track and golf;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Mike Kaczmarz was affectionately known as "Coach
17Kaz" and was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches
18Hall of Fame with over 400 wins, including a 1988 2nd place
19finish in the state tournament; he enjoyed golf and was a
20regular at the Brookhills Golf Club; he was an avid reader and
21especially loved Shakespeare; he was a fan of the Chicago Cubs
22and a proud Dziadzia to Theo; he was also a music enthusiast

1and fan of Jimmy Buffett; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Mike Kaczmarz was preceded in death by his
3parents and his brother, Tommy Kaczmarz; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Mike Kaczmarz is survived by his wife, Patty; his
5son and daughter-in-law, William and Christina Schuh; his
6grandson, Theo; his brother, Ken Kaczmarz; and sisters-in-law,
7brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Michael John "Mike" Kaczmarz and extend our sincere
12condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
13him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Mike Kaczmarz as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
