SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Sandra Chimon Rogers, Ph.D., who
4passed away on June 24, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Rogers was born on September 8, 1973; she
6graduated from Lockport Township High School, where she
7participated in the marching band; she earned her Ph.D. in
8Analytical Chemistry from the University of Illinois Chicago;
9she and her family resided in Homer Glen; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dr. Rogers worked as dean of the College of
11Professional Studies at the National University of Health
12Sciences (NUHS); she dedicated her career to advancing
13education, fostering innovation, mentoring colleagues, and
14nurturing future healthcare professionals; her work in
15bioanalytical nuclear neurochemistry, especially on
16Alzheimer's disease prevention, including collaborations with
17NASA, and her leadership roles at prestigious institutions
18like the University of Illinois and DePaul University
19highlighted her exceptional commitment to science, education,
20and people; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Dr. Rogers served on the board of directors of
22the Association of Accredited Naturopathic Medical Colleges

1(AANMC), where she was instrumental in navigating the
2tumultuous terrain of educational delivery during the Covid-19
3pandemic; at the time of her passing, she was serving as a
4member and secretary of the Lockport Township High School
5District 205 Board of Education; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dr. Rogers was recognized for her innovation in
7academic curriculum overhaul by the U.S. House of
8Representatives and the Society of Innovators; and
 
9    WHEREAS, A dedicated servant leader, Dr. Rogers will be
10remembered for her legacy of excellence, her passion for
11teaching, and her pioneering spirit; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dr. Rogers is survived by her husband and her
13children; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Sandra Chimon Rogers, Ph.D. and extend our sincere condolences
17to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
18it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Dr. Rogers as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
