SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Angel Duran Arias of Joliet, who
4passed away on July 29, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Angel Arias was born to Rafael and Angelina Arias
6in Moroleon, Guanajuato, Mexico on April 1, 1955; he emigrated
7to the United States in 1969, and he began working in the
8produce fields of Southern California that same year; he
9married Virginia Refugio on December 29, 1978, and they
10settled and established their family in Joliet; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Angel Arias possessed an exemplary work ethic
12that followed him through various employers, including the GAF
13Materials Corporation, McKesson, and Hollywood Casino, from
14which he retired in 2021; he also co-owned La Heradura de
15Joliet with his uncles for some time; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Angel Arias was an active member of the Lienzo
17Charro Los Nortenos de Joliet in his early adult life; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Angel Arias was an avid reader and enjoyed
19spending time with his family; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Angel Arias was known for his big heart and his

1contagious smile; he will be remembered for his laid-back,
2easygoing demeanor and his mischievous sense of humor; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Angel Arias is preceded in death by his parents
4and numerous aunts and uncles; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Angel Arias is survived by his wife of 45 years,
6Virginia; his children, Angel (Veronica), Gabriel (Renee
7Rivera), Raphael (Angelica), and Tanya; three grandchildren;
8one great-grandson; his siblings, Rafael (Patricia), Jaime
9(Lourdes), Margarita, Leticia (Renzo), and Miroslavia; and
10numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Angel Duran Arias and extend our sincere condolences to his
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Angel Arias as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
