SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Marilyn A. McGuire, who passed away on
4July 4, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire was born in Joliet on September
617, 1928; she was raised in Lockport and Joliet; she graduated
7from Sacred Heart School and St. Francis Academy, and she
8attended the College of St. Francis; she married Paul E.
9McGuire on November 24, 1951, and they raised six children;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire worked in the law office of
12Joseph Kirincich for 14 years before becoming associate
13director of development at Joliet Catholic High School; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire was an active member of the
15Joliet Fire Department Women's Auxiliary, the St. Paul the
16Apostle School Board, the St. Francis Academy and Joliet
17Catholic High School parent organizations, and the Notre Dame
18Club of Joliet; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire enjoyed cheering on the Joliet
20Catholic Academy and the University of Notre Dame, cooking and
21baking for her family, voting, and playing Scrabble; and

1    WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire will be remembered as a smart and
2determined woman who held a lifelong commitment to helping
3others; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire was preceded in death by her
5parents, Dorothy and Harold Mannell; her husband of 29 years,
6Paul; and her brother, Jim Mannell; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Marilyn McGuire is survived by her children, Pat
8(Lora), Peggy, Terry, Muffy, Eileen (Thom), and Marty (Deza);
910 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her siblings, Jack
10Mannell and Kay Corrigan; her sister-in-law, Judy McGuire; and
11numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Marilyn A. McGuire and extend our sincere condolences to her
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Marilyn McGuire as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
