SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Frederick Wayne Allen of Cambridge,
4who passed away on July 22, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Wayne Allen, the son of Frederick A. and Minnie
6H. (Weber) Allen, was born on February 24, 1936; he was
7educated in Princeton and Kewanee, graduating from Kewanee
8High School in 1955; he was drafted into the U.S. military in
91958, and he was called back home to assist his father with the
10dairy business nine months later; he married Sharon E. Van
11Hyfte Allen in Kewanee on June 25, 1960; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Wayne Allen worked at a variety of places,
13including Allen's Dairy in Kewanee, Allen's Restaurant in
14Kewanee, Micheel-Osborne Dairy in Davenport, Iowa, Iowana
15Dairy in Davenport, Iowa, Dorhn Transfer in Rock Island,
16Schnowske & Sons Rendering Services in Cambridge, and the
17United Parcel Service (UPS) in Milan, retiring in July 1995;
18he also raised cattle with his brothers-in-law from 1978 to
191982 and then on his own five-acre farm in Cambridge from 1982
20until 2013; and
 
21    WHEREAS, After retirement, Wayne Allen worked for Glenn
22Maertens, Steve Gustafson, Mike Blade, and Michlig Grain; he

1also always lent a helping hand to Mert Klawonn; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Wayne Allen was an avid NASCAR fan, and he
3enjoyed using his skills as a mechanic to assist stock car
4driver Jim Townsend at the Peoria Speedway and East Moline
5Speedway from 1966 to 1971; he loved spending time with his
6friends and his family; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Wayne Allen was preceded in death by his parents;
8his grandparents; his infant son, Michael Wayne; his in-laws,
9Anthony and Margaret Van Hyfte; and his brother-in-law, Steve
10Neely; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Wayne Allen is survived by his wife of 64 years,
12Sharon; his daughter, Suzette (Dirk) Wilkinson; his son, Drew
13(Danell) Allen; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter;
14his siblings, Karen Neely, Glenn (Lisa) Allen, and Kristeen
15(Mark) Gould; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews;
16therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Frederick Wayne Allen and extend our sincere condolences to
20his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
21further
