SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Frederick Wayne Allen of Cambridge, who passed away on July 22, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Allen, the son of Frederick A. and Minnie H. (Weber) Allen, was born on February 24, 1936; he was educated in Princeton and Kewanee, graduating from Kewanee High School in 1955; he was drafted into the U.S. military in 1958, and he was called back home to assist his father with the dairy business nine months later; he married Sharon E. Van Hyfte Allen in Kewanee on June 25, 1960; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Allen worked at a variety of places, including Allen's Dairy in Kewanee, Allen's Restaurant in Kewanee, Micheel-Osborne Dairy in Davenport, Iowa, Iowana Dairy in Davenport, Iowa, Dorhn Transfer in Rock Island, Schnowske & Sons Rendering Services in Cambridge, and the United Parcel Service (UPS) in Milan, retiring in July 1995; he also raised cattle with his brothers-in-law from 1978 to 1982 and then on his own five-acre farm in Cambridge from 1982 until 2013; and

WHEREAS, After retirement, Wayne Allen worked for Glenn Maertens, Steve Gustafson, Mike Blade, and Michlig Grain; he also always lent a helping hand to Mert Klawonn; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Allen was an avid NASCAR fan, and he enjoyed using his skills as a mechanic to assist stock car driver Jim Townsend at the Peoria Speedway and East Moline Speedway from 1966 to 1971; he loved spending time with his friends and his family; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Allen was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; his infant son, Michael Wayne; his in-laws, Anthony and Margaret Van Hyfte; and his brother-in-law, Steve Neely; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Allen is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sharon; his daughter, Suzette (Dirk) Wilkinson; his son, Drew (Danell) Allen; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; his siblings, Karen Neely, Glenn (Lisa) Allen, and Kristeen (Mark) Gould; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Frederick Wayne Allen and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Wayne Allen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
