SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Floyd A. Ward Jr. of Rock Island, who
4passed away on July 14, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Floyd Ward, the son of Floyd Allen Sr. and
6Frances Pauline (Showalter) Ward, was born in Cedar Falls,
7Iowa on February 19, 1936; at age 14, he and his family moved
8to St. Paul, Minnesota; he graduated from Humboldt High School
9in St. Paul, where he played football; he served as a signalman
10in the U.S. Navy Reserve in the 1950s; he married Gloria J.
11Reil on August 20, 1955, and she preceded him in death on April
122, 1992; he later married Ann Colley Bostic on July 31, 1993;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Floyd Ward had a long career with 3M, where he
15initially swept floors before working his way up; he moved to
16the Quad Cities to help start the 3M plant in Cordova in 1971,
17where he eventually became production superintendent; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Floyd Ward committed to his faith in 1979, and he
19was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Port Byron; most
20recently, he attended the New Hope Foursquare Church in
21Moline; and

1    WHEREAS, Floyd Ward and his wife, Ann, enjoyed spending
2winters in Orange Beach, Alabama for the last 30 years, and he
3also loved spending time at their cabin in Wisconsin; he
4enjoyed golfing, hunting, and playing pool, and he was known
5as an amazing polka dancer; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Floyd Ward was a wonderful, loving father and
7grandfather who always tried to attend all of his
8grandchildren's events; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Floyd Ward was preceded in death by his parents;
10his first wife, Gloria; and his brother, James Paul Ward; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Floyd Ward is survived by his wife, Ann Ward; his
12daughter, Nancy (Matt) Sample; his sons, David (Teri) Ward,
13Steven (Janice) Ward, Mike Bostic, Randy (Lorie) Bostic, and
14Curt (Ann) Bostic; 16 grandchildren; and 15
15great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Floyd A. Ward Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
