| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION |
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Floyd A. Ward Jr. of Rock Island, who |
| 4 | | passed away on July 14, 2024; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Floyd Ward, the son of Floyd Allen Sr. and |
| 6 | | Frances Pauline (Showalter) Ward, was born in Cedar Falls, |
| 7 | | Iowa on February 19, 1936; at age 14, he and his family moved |
| 8 | | to St. Paul, Minnesota; he graduated from Humboldt High School |
| 9 | | in St. Paul, where he played football; he served as a signalman |
| 10 | | in the U.S. Navy Reserve in the 1950s; he married Gloria J. |
| 11 | | Reil on August 20, 1955, and she preceded him in death on April |
| 12 | | 2, 1992; he later married Ann Colley Bostic on July 31, 1993; |
| 13 | | and |
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Floyd Ward had a long career with 3M, where he |
| 15 | | initially swept floors before working his way up; he moved to |
| 16 | | the Quad Cities to help start the 3M plant in Cordova in 1971, |
| 17 | | where he eventually became production superintendent; and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Floyd Ward committed to his faith in 1979, and he |
| 19 | | was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Port Byron; most |
| 20 | | recently, he attended the New Hope Foursquare Church in |
| 21 | | Moline; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Floyd Ward and his wife, Ann, enjoyed spending |
| 2 | | winters in Orange Beach, Alabama for the last 30 years, and he |
| 3 | | also loved spending time at their cabin in Wisconsin; he |
| 4 | | enjoyed golfing, hunting, and playing pool, and he was known |
| 5 | | as an amazing polka dancer; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Floyd Ward was a wonderful, loving father and |
| 7 | | grandfather who always tried to attend all of his |
| 8 | | grandchildren's events; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Floyd Ward was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 10 | | his first wife, Gloria; and his brother, James Paul Ward; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Floyd Ward is survived by his wife, Ann Ward; his |
| 12 | | daughter, Nancy (Matt) Sample; his sons, David (Teri) Ward, |
| 13 | | Steven (Janice) Ward, Mike Bostic, Randy (Lorie) Bostic, and |
| 14 | | Curt (Ann) Bostic; 16 grandchildren; and 15 |
| 15 | | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it |
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |
| 17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 18 | | Floyd A. Ward Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his |
| 19 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
| 20 | | further |
