SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Donald Hobart "Don" McRoberts of 
4Moline, who passed away on July 11, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Don McRoberts was born to Merle and Abby (Gum) 
6McRoberts in Moline on October 24, 1930; he graduated from 
7Western Illinois University and received his master's degree 
8from Northern Illinois University; he married Betty Mae 
9Kennelly in Macomb on October 22, 1954; he served in the U.S. 
10Coast Guard; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Don McRoberts worked as a math teacher at John 
12Deere Middle School in Moline for 30 years, retiring in 1992; 
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Don McRoberts was an avid reader and loved 
15working outdoors; he also enjoyed fishing and solving jigsaw 
16puzzles; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Don McRoberts was preceded in death by his wife, 
18Betty; his son, Michael McRoberts; and his brother, Robert 
19McRoberts; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Don McRoberts is survived by his son, David

1McRoberts, and his grandchildren, Jaron McRoberts, McKenna 
2McRoberts, Leslie (Ryan) Barrett, and Jacob McRoberts; 
3therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
6Donald Hobart "Don" McRoberts and extend our sincere 
7condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved 
8him; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to the family of Don McRoberts as an expression of 
11our deepest sympathy.
