SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Larry V. Hughes of Moline, who passed 
4away on July 16, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Larry Hughes, the son of Gwyn and Iva Fay (St. 
6John) Hughes, was born in Moline on February 28, 1952; he 
7served in the U.S. Navy; he married Cheryl Morehead in Moline 
8on February 12, 1977; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Larry Hughes worked in the I.T. Department at 
10John Deere, retiring after 37 years of service in 2011; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Larry Hughes enjoyed bowling, traveling, being 
12outdoors, and spending time with his family and friends; he 
13was an avid fan of Star Trek and NASCAR; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Larry Hughes was preceded in death by his 
15parents; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Larry Hughes is survived by his wife of 47 years, 
17Cheryl; his daughters, Valerie (Brock) McConchie and Danielle 
18(Patrick) Dickens; six grandchildren; and his sister, Cheryl 
19Baker; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
3Larry V. Hughes and extend our sincere condolences to his 
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the family of Larry Hughes as an expression of our 
8deepest sympathy.
