SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Rose Marie "Rosie" Hammitt of
4Salisbury, who passed away on July 19, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rose Hammitt was born to James and Doris
6Livingston in Springfield on December 16, 1949; she graduated
7from Springfield High School in 1967; she married Mike Hammitt
8on December 30, 1972; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Rose Hammitt was employed with the State of
10Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety, where she served as
11manager of the GIS computer section until her retirement;
12prior to that, she worked at the Illinois Department of
13Transportation for a combined total of over 30 years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Rose Hammitt was an active member of the Church
15of the Little Flower and the Jacksonville Antique Car Club;
16she also served on the Curran Gardner Water Board and was
17instrumental in getting water to the Salisbury community;
18throughout her life, she was committed to helping others, with
19no task too small or too great; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Rose Hammitt liked stained glass, horses, and two
21donkeys named Daisy and Doodle; she enjoyed crafting, jewelry

1making, acquiring antique cars, riding motorcycles, going to
2garage sales with friends, hosting family and friends, and
3being on the farm; most of all, she loved spending time with
4her family; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rose Hammitt was preceded in death by her husband
6and her parents; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Rose Hammitt is survived by her daughter, Anna
8(Timothy) Varvel; her grandchildren, Brycen and Delaney
9Varvel; her siblings, James (Kathy) Livingston and Mary (Bill)
10Hayen; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Rose Marie "Rosie" Hammitt and extend our sincere condolences
14to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
15it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Rose Hammitt as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
