SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of John L. Gulley of Edington, who passed
4away on August 16, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Gulley, the son of Oren and Ruth (Piper)
6Gulley, was born in Vincennes, Indiana on July 26, 1945; he
7served as a medic in the U.S. Army in Vietnam; he graduated
8from Southern Illinois University; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John Gulley first worked as an undercover
10narcotics agent in Chicago with the Illinois Bureau of
11Investigations; he later joined the Division of Criminal
12Investigations of the Illinois State Police, retiring as a
13captain; he also taught law enforcement classes part-time at
14Black Hawk College; and
 
15    WHEREAS, John Gulley was a member of Andalusia Community
16Baptist Church; and
 
17    WHEREAS, John Gulley enjoyed researching history, watching
18old Western movies, listening to music, and attending his
19children's and grandchildren's ball games; and
 
20    WHEREAS, John Gulley's greatest joy came from spending

1time with friends and family; and
 
2    WHEREAS, John Gulley was preceded in death by his parents;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, John Gulley is survived by his wife, Linda
5Gulley; his children, Katherhan Sue (Leroy) Hitchcock, Jonna
6Lynn (Jose) Cruz, Kelly Lane (Eric) Moel, and Cassandra Jean
7(Andrew) Fuhr; 11 grandchildren; and his sister, Mildred (Ron)
8Fuhrman; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11John L. Gulley and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of John Gulley as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
