2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of John L. Gulley of Edington, who passed |
4 | | away on August 16, 2024; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, John Gulley, the son of Oren and Ruth (Piper) |
6 | | Gulley, was born in Vincennes, Indiana on July 26, 1945; he |
7 | | served as a medic in the U.S. Army in Vietnam; he graduated |
8 | | from Southern Illinois University; and |
9 | | WHEREAS, John Gulley first worked as an undercover |
10 | | narcotics agent in Chicago with the Illinois Bureau of |
11 | | Investigations; he later joined the Division of Criminal |
12 | | Investigations of the Illinois State Police, retiring as a |
13 | | captain; he also taught law enforcement classes part-time at |
14 | | Black Hawk College; and |
15 | | WHEREAS, John Gulley was a member of Andalusia Community |
16 | | Baptist Church; and |
17 | | WHEREAS, John Gulley enjoyed researching history, watching |
18 | | old Western movies, listening to music, and attending his |
19 | | children's and grandchildren's ball games; and |
20 | | WHEREAS, John Gulley's greatest joy came from spending |
