SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Donald Arthur "Don" Wahls of Pekin,
4who passed away on August 8, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Don Wahls was born to Albert C. and Lydia (Kutz)
6Wahls in Evanston on March 24, 1933; he graduated with a
7Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of
8Wisconsin in 1956, where he was a member of the Delta Tau
9Fraternity; he served in the U.S. Army; he married Helen Mary
10Beckmann in Park Ridge on June 24, 1961; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Don Wahls worked as a registered pharmacist for
12Thrifty Drug Stores and later at SupeRx in Pekin, retiring in
131995; he previously owned and operated Ehrlicher Drugs in
14Pekin; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Don Wahls was a member of the Trinity Lutheran
16Church in Pekin; he was a former member of Sunset Hills Golf
17Club in Pekin and the Central Illinois Pharmacy Association
18and was a charter member of the Pekin Chapter of Ambucs; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Don Wahls enjoyed golfing, traveling, playing
20bridge, and following sports, especially the Chicago Bears;

1    WHEREAS, Don Wahls and his wife were residents of Pekin
2for over 60 years, wintered in Anna Marie Island for more than
325 years, and felt very fortunate to have had many close,
4long-lasting friendships across the United States; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Don Wahls was preceded in death by his parents;
6his wife; his brother, Robert Wahls; and his sisters-in-law,
7Doris Wahls and Margaret Wahls; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Don Wahls is survived by his brother, Harvey
9Wahls; two nieces; three nephews; and many friends in the
10Bettler Family of Pekin; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Donald Arthur "Don" Wahls and extend our sincere condolences
14to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
15it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Don Wahls as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
