SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Raymond E. "Ray" Wages of Canton, who
4passed away on August 18, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ray Wages was born to Estie and Bessie (Henry)
6Wages in Banner on December 18, 1927; he served in the U.S.
7Navy during World War II; he married Clara (O'Bryant) Wages on
8September 25, 1946; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ray Wages worked as an inspector for Caterpillar
10for 40 years, retiring in 1984; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ray Wages was a member of the Canton VFW, the
12American Legion, and Wesley United Methodist Church; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ray Wages was lifelong dedicated Chicago Cubs
14fan, and he had been a central Illinois Cubs booster since
151945; he enjoyed playing pool at the Rec Center at Big Creek
16Pool and will fondly be remembered as a Cubs fan and a Ford
17man; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Ray Wages was preceded in death by his parents;
19his wife; his son, Randy Wages; and his brothers, Lewis
20(Nellie) Wages, Roy (Violet) Wages, and Frank Wages; and

1    WHEREAS, Ray Wages is survived by his daughters, Pamela
2(Phil) Johns and Mardelle (Dave) Steck; his brother, Lloyd
3(the late Nelda) Wages; five grandchildren; nine
4great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren;
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Raymond E. "Ray" Wages and extend our sincere condolences to
9his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Ray Wages as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
