SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Roger Dean McCullum, formerly of
4Canton, who passed away on August 19, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Roger McCullum was born in Abington on October
613, 1937; during high school, he was a star quarterback,
7pitcher, and basketball player; he served on the military
8police force in the U.S. Army; he graduated from Western
9Illinois University, where he met his lifelong friend, Gary
10Grzanich; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Roger McCullum worked as a teacher, a bus driver,
12a tax preparer, an insurance salesman, and, during the
13summers, at Schissler Seed Company and MSD; he last worked at
14Auto Haus of Peoria for 18 years; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Roger McCullum enjoyed every day of his life, and
16he lived it to the fullest; he had a great sense of humor; he
17loved his family more than anything, especially his
18grandchildren; he led by example with his actions; the
19unconditional love that he showed his family every single day
20will never be forgotten; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Roger McCullum was preceded in death by his wife,

1Marilyn Rumler McCullum; his mother, Agnes Swedlund; his
2brothers, Bill (Sandra) Patterson and Bob (Karen) Hartstirn;
3and his grandson, Ricky Hulvey; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Roger McCullum is survived by his son, BJ
5McCullum; his daughters, Chris (Jason) Edwards and Marta
6McCullum; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his
7brother, Sid (Vicky) Swedlund; his sister, Susan (David) Todd;
8and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Roger Dean McCullum and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Roger McCullum as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
