SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of David H. "Dave" Banister of Canton,
4who passed away on August 23, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dave Banister was born to Harlan and Evelyn
6(Ballard) Banister in Canton on May 9, 1948; he served as a
7medic in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; he married
8Barbara "Barb" Davis in Canton on December 18, 1976; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dave Banister and his wife, Barb, owned and
10operated Dave's Filling Station in Farmington for 13 years;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dave Banister served as the administrative
13assistant of First Baptist Church in Canton, where he was also
14a member; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Dave Banister was a member of the Canton American
16Legion, and he previously served as a board member of Love INC
17and a volunteer with the Farmington Fire Department; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dave Banister enjoyed spending time with his
19family, playing poker at gatherings, and attending his
20grandchildren's events; and

1    WHEREAS, Dave Banister was preceded in death by his wife
2and his son, Derek Banister; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Dave Banister is survived by his children,
4Kristine (Peter) Thill, Jennifer (Rick) Nichols, and Jeffrey
5(Jaclyn) Banister; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild;
6therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9David H. "Dave" Banister and extend our sincere condolences to
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Dave Banister as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
