SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Alex Strandgard Jr. of Coal Valley,
4who passed away on August 19, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Alex Strandgard Jr., the son of Alex and Irene
6(Quick) Strandgard Sr., was born in Rapid City on September
730, 1936; he served in the U.S. Marine Corps; he married
8Harriett Crawford in Edgington on September 9, 1961, and she
9preceded him in death on May 8, 2020; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Alex Strandgard worked as a school teacher for
11East Moline School District No. 37, retiring in 1994; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Alex Strandgard was a member of Beulah
13Presbyterian Church, the Rock Island County Farm Bureau, and
14the Illinois Education Association; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Alex Strandgard enjoyed working on his farm,
16gardening, and feeding the birds; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Alex Strandgard was preceded in death by his
18wife; his granddaughter, Taylor Strandgard; and his siblings,
19Richard Strandgard, Betty Truitt, Cheryl Mathis, Barb Zesiger,
20and Martha Norton; and

1    WHEREAS, Alex Strandgard is survived by his children, Mark
2(Kathy) Strandgard and Cynthia (Jack) Allen; five
3grandchildren; his great-granddaughter, Harper Welch; and his
4siblings, Alfred Strandgard, Jon Strandgard, and Marilyn
5Pennington; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Alex Strandgard Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Alex Strandgard as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
