| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Reverend Jerry D. McGraw, who passed |
| 4 | | away on August 22, 2024; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jerry McGraw was born to Zach and Dorothy McGraw |
| 6 | | in Memphis, Tennessee on April 18, 1940; he moved to Chicago |
| 7 | | and attended Dunbar Vocational High School; he served in the |
| 8 | | U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and returned home as a |
| 9 | | chemical engineer; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Jerry McGraw worked as an operational engineer at |
| 11 | | the City of Chicago Purification Plant for 30 years; he held |
| 12 | | various roles within the City of Chicago, including at the |
| 13 | | Chicago Tribune; he also ran his own small business as a |
| 14 | | funeral home director; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Jerry McGraw's faith from an early age inspired |
| 16 | | him to become an ordained minister; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Jerry McGraw's extraordinary life was a testament |
| 18 | | to faith, love, compassion, and unwavering strength; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Jerry McGraw was preceded in death by his |
| 20 | | siblings and his children, Yelleta and Jerry Jr.; and |
