2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Darrell G. "Dude" Meisinger of Green | ||||||
4 | Valley, who passed away on August 18, 2024; and | ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dude Meisinger was born to George Peter and Fanny | ||||||
6 | Catherine (Eicher) Meisinger in Pekin on December 28, 1937; he | ||||||
7 | graduated from Green Valley High School in 1955; he married | ||||||
8 | Peggy Jane Van Middlesworth in Canton on May 15, 1960; he later | ||||||
9 | earned his associate's degree in fire science from Illinois | ||||||
10 | Central College in 1974; he served in the U.S. Navy Reserve; | ||||||
11 | and | ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Dude Meisinger was a firefighter with the Pekin | ||||||
13 | Fire Department for 26 years, retiring as captain; he then | ||||||
14 | served the State of Illinois as a supervisor with the Office of | ||||||
15 | the State Fire Marshal; in retirement, he worked as an Agri | ||||||
16 | driver for Farm Supply in Green Valley; and | ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Dude Meisinger was a past president of Pekin | ||||||
18 | Firefighters Local 524 and served on the Tazewell County | ||||||
19 | Board, representing District 1, for many years; he was a life | ||||||
20 | member of William Schaefer American Legion Post 44 in Pekin | ||||||
21 | and Pekin Moose Family Center 916, and he was a former member | ||||||
22 | of the Pekin Elks and the Pekin Boat Club; he was a longtime |

1 | member of St. John's (Sand Prairie) Lutheran Church in rural | ||||||
2 | Green Valley; and | ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Dude Meisinger was an avid golfer, and he was a | ||||||
4 | former member of We-Ma-Tuk Hills Country Club near Cuba and | ||||||
5 | Sunset Golf Club in Pekin; he also was an avid hunter and | ||||||
6 | boater and a private pilot, owning several airplanes; and | ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Dude Meisinger was preceded in death by his | ||||||
8 | parents; his sister, Darlene Sloter; his siblings-in-law, Bob | ||||||
9 | Sloter and Judith Van Middlesworth; his nephew, Jeff Sloter; | ||||||
10 | and the family dogs, Missy and Lexi; and | ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Dude Meisinger is survived by his wife; his | ||||||
12 | children, Cole (Darla) Meisinger and Kathy Bouton; five | ||||||
13 | grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law, | ||||||
14 | J. Alan Van Middlesworth; and his nephews and niece, Mike | ||||||
15 | (Kristie) Sloter, Nicolas Van Middlesworth, and Tobi Datillo; | ||||||
16 | therefore, be it | ||||||
17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
19 | Darrell G. "Dude" Meisinger and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
20 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
21 | it further |
