SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of former Illinois State Representative 
4Brent Alan Hassert of Plainfield, formerly of Romeoville, who 
5passed away on August 29, 2024; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Rep. Hassert, the son of George and Blanche 
7Hassert, was born on October 29, 1952; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Rep. Hassert was a Republican member of the 
9Illinois House of Representatives, representing the 85th 
10District from 1993 until January 2009; during his tenure, he 
11served as Deputy House Republican Leader; he was also a former 
12member of the Will County Board; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Prior to his political career, Rep. Hassert was 
14the owner of the Hassert Landscaping Company; upon leaving the 
15General Assembly, he became president of Brent Hassert 
16Consulting in 2009; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Rep. Hassert was known for his tenacious work 
18ethic; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Rep. Hassert was preceded in death by his 
20parents; his infant brother, Craig Hassert; and his stepson,

1Matthew Goodson; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Rep. Hassert is survived by his wife, Lee Ann 
3Goodson; his children, Justin (Kathy) Hassert, Josh (Sarah) 
4Hassert, and Alexandra (Victor) Ruikis; his brother, Earl 
5(Paula) Hassert; his grandchildren, Kyle (fiancee, Morgan 
6Lyon) Hassert, Jena Hassert, Colton Hassert, Carson Hassert, 
7Aria Phoenix, Avery Ruikis, and Bailey Ruikis; and numerous 
8cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
11former Illinois State Representative Brent Alan Hassert and 
12extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all 
13who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to the family of Rep. Hassert as an expression of our 
16deepest sympathy.
