SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William Fredrick "Bill" Nicholson of Cordova, who passed away on September 15, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Bill Nicholson was born in Hillsdale to Lloyd and Minnie (Fillmer) Nicholson on December 20, 1927; he graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1946 and served in the United States Coast Guard; he married Doris Fisher, and they later divorced; he married Patricia (Coe) Zimmerman in Henry County on December 31, 1971; and

WHEREAS, Bill Nicholson worked for Riverdale schools from 1955 to 1978, John Deere Harvester from 1978 to 1982, and then for United Township High School as a building and grounds supervisor from 1984 until his retirement in 1993; and

WHEREAS, Bill Nicholson was a member of the Cordova American Legion and the Erie RC Club; he enjoyed going to tool shows and spending time in his garage woodworking; he was a great neighbor and was always willing to help anyone in need; and

WHEREAS, Bill Nicholson was preceded in death his brother, Robert Nicholson, and his son-in-law, Jack Malmstrom; and

WHEREAS, Bill Nicholson is survived by his wife, Patricia; his children, William R. (Jean) Nicholson, Victoria Long, Todd (Sue) Nicholson, and Denise Nicholson; his stepchildren, Wesley (Jennifer) Zimmerman, Kathleen Zimmerman, and Kristen Zimmerman; his grandchildren, Brandyn Spengler, Jennifer Rocco, Timothy Nicholson, and Greg McAllister; and his sister, Sally Nicholson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of William Fredrick "Bill" Nicholson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bill Nicholson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
