SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of William Fredrick "Bill" Nicholson of
4Cordova, who passed away on September 15, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Nicholson was born in Hillsdale to Lloyd and
6Minnie (Fillmer) Nicholson on December 20, 1927; he graduated
7from Hillsdale High School in 1946 and served in the United
8States Coast Guard; he married Doris Fisher, and they later
9divorced; he married Patricia (Coe) Zimmerman in Henry County
10on December 31, 1971; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bill Nicholson worked for Riverdale schools from
121955 to 1978, John Deere Harvester from 1978 to 1982, and then
13for United Township High School as a building and grounds
14supervisor from 1984 until his retirement in 1993; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Bill Nicholson was a member of the Cordova
16American Legion and the Erie RC Club; he enjoyed going to tool
17shows and spending time in his garage woodworking; he was a
18great neighbor and was always willing to help anyone in need;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bill Nicholson was preceded in death his brother,
21Robert Nicholson, and his son-in-law, Jack Malmstrom; and

1    WHEREAS, Bill Nicholson is survived by his wife, Patricia;
2his children, William R. (Jean) Nicholson, Victoria Long, Todd
3(Sue) Nicholson, and Denise Nicholson; his stepchildren,
4Wesley (Jennifer) Zimmerman, Kathleen Zimmerman, and Kristen
5Zimmerman; his grandchildren, Brandyn Spengler, Jennifer
6Rocco, Timothy Nicholson, and Greg McAllister; and his sister,
7Sally Nicholson; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10William Fredrick "Bill" Nicholson and extend our sincere
11condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
12him; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Bill Nicholson as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
