SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Cyril A. "Bud" Stobaugh Jr. of
4Farmington, who passed away on September 6, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bud Stobaugh, the son of Mary L. (Boldys) and
6Cyril A. Stobaugh Sr., was born in Farmington on October 23,
71931; he voluntarily enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on April 4,
81951, serving during the Korean War; he was honorably
9discharged on November 13, 1953, holding the designation of
10inactive reserve for eight years until the end of the war; he
11married Norma Jeanne Paine at St. Marks Church in Peoria on
12July 3, 1954; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bud Stobaugh began working for the Caterpillar
14Tractor Company on February 6, 1950, retiring as a technical
15writer in the service information department in January 1991
16after 41 years of service; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Bud Stobaugh was a member of the Farmington City
18Council and served as Police Commissioner for the City of
19Farmington for eight years; he was elected to a two-year term
20as Mayor of Farmington on April 1, 2003, serving two four-year
21terms; and

1    WHEREAS, Bud Stobaugh was a member of St. Matthews
2Catholic Church in Farmington, Farmington Moose Lodge #1571,
3St. George Council 4th degree, Canton Knights of Columbus,
4American Legion Post # 140, and the Fr. Daniel Sheehan Council
5Knights of Columbus; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bud Stobaugh was preceded in death by his
7parents; his wife; his infant son, James; and his brother,
8Jack Stobaugh; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bud Stobaugh is survived by his children, Michael
10A. Stobaugh, Patricia St. Tourangeau, and Timothy J. (Janice)
11Stobaugh; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren;
12therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Cyril A. "Bud" Stobaugh Jr. and extend our sincere condolences
16to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
17it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Bud Stobaugh as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
